Hi there, Firstly I can’t get over the fact that you want to know more about me. Thank you so much for visiting my Website. Hopefully by visiting this it’ll give you insight into me, my personal life and my photography.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to not work a day in my life. I say this because I’ve always loved what I do, and have have really enjoyed my journey, the people, the achievements, the hard work and most importantly the fun along the way!

I wont bore you too much, but so far in my life, I started as a Builder, then a Sound Engineer, worked at the DPI Brisbane, a Ship Crane Operator (which I still do) and a Musician for 25 years.

I was fortunate enough to play with and meet some amazing people on my journey. I even got to live in the USA for a few years playing all over the States.

Love brought me home. My gorgeous Girl who I met before I moved to the US. Which was a tough time for the both of us being so far apart. I arrived home in 2005 and we moved to Newcastle.

After moving down, we loved the place, and brought our own little house at Dora Creek. I was lucky enough to tour with Troy Cassar-Daley for 7 years, and other Australian such as Paul Kelly, and other amazing acts I’m lucky enough to call my friends. I still do the odd gig here and there, but mostly these days it’s all about the Camera.

I bought my first Professional Camera in 2012 a few days after the birth of my son Jeb. I got to document Jeb and my daughter Shelby’s milestones, and take the odd snapshot. But after some time I really got into it more, taking the Camera everywhere.

I’m extremely lucky to have so many creative friends around me, including my best friend who is an amazing Videographer who has won many awards and shot for Nat Geo and his wife who is such an amazing Photographer. So I’d be asking them a million questions. I’m sure they were like, “oh no, Mick’s calling again”. Hehe.

I’ll always remember getting a phone call from a friend asking if I’d take some family photos for them. We had so much fun and really enjoyed this shoot. To this day I’m proud of the shots I got, even though I’ll never stop learning photography. I never really thought I’d be doing this full time now. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I’ll never stop learning photography, I just want to be better than the day before. I’ll never take shortcuts, and really enjoy and learn from every shoot I do. I consider myself a creative person and always have have been a people person.

Anyone can take a photo. But, I love to create a relaxing and fun atmosphere so we can get the best out of you. I love to break down barriers, play games, and make you feel great. To me this is photography.

Again, thank you so much for looking at my site. My personality and photography is not for everyone, but for those who feel like I am, I’d love to chat to you soon.

Big Love,

Confessions of a camera nerd

What got you into Photography?

Well, have got a spare second? I was born into a creative family. I think my Pop was the first one who sparked the flame when I just a kid.  Watching his home movies was very cool, but what really got me was the Kodachrome Slides. This certainly planted the seed. Then in High School I had the coolest job on the weekend. Playing in my Mums band, and got 100 bucks a gig. I thought I was the richest teen in Toowoomba! Hehe. So I went and brought a Pentax film camera after saving up. My brother got one also, so we use to head around and take pics of everything. Pretty sure most of the rolls never got developed tho, as we didn’t have the money. Fast forward 25 years, my oldest and best mate, has an award winning Video Production company, and I was like, wow! This is just awesome, I need to get a Camera! Then Jeb was born, so I went and got my first DSLR and I initially got it to take video, but it didn’t take long to get addicted to photography.

Who do you miss the most?

My Pop. He was jut an amazing guy. I miss our conversations, and his laugh. He’s such a fascinating person, and had such an amazing life.

Do you have kids?

Sure do, they are my world. I have a daughter, Shelby (6), and a son named Jeb (4), and our new baby Boy who’s 2 weeks old Rigby (Yes we’re mad Beatle Fans).

What’s your favourite thing to do with the Kids?

We go on what we call “mini adventures”. It may just be down the road, or take a few hours. But every minute is the best. I love these moments, and would change them for anything. Of course I take the camera! Haha..

What’s you favourite food?

Just food in general. But PLEASE! No tomato! If I’d have to choose one to eat every day, it would be Sushi.

Who is your favorite movie and actor?

I’d have to say 2 of my faves are The Secret life of Walter Mitty and Crackerjack. (Aussie Classic) Can there be more than one actor? I guess Bill Murray, Christopher Walken and Oliver Platt. Oh, and Charlize Theron. But that may be a crush too… Sorry Kim.. Hehe

Do you still play Music?

Oh, absolutely! I love playing. No crazy touring schedules these days, which is great when you have a small family. I’ll never stop playing, it’s part of me. I’ve been doing it for more than half my life. I guess you could say it’s in my blood.

What Inspires you?

My Family, Friends, Movies, Audiobooks (as I’m not a big reader) and pretty much everything. For example. I know this sounds crazy, but I love to observe people (I know it sounds completely stalkerish). Complete strangers, I’m fascinated with human emotion, and love to observe it. Wanting to know what are they in a bad mood, are they happy, what are they generally thinking.

What is your favorite hobby?

Photography, Music, Snowboarding. Probably in that order too.

What celebrities would you like to meet?

Bill Murray! The guys a legend! 🙂

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost

Oh and of course Paul McCartney!
